My Leadership Grade

There are two main parts of leadership.

Leading by example.

You can’t be a leaders unless you step up and do the things your talking about. If you don’t walk the walk no one will care that you talk the talk. You need to represent what your trying to lead. You need to become the change your looking for.

When it comes to leading by example I’d give myself an A, maybe an A-. I try to eat the way I want my students to eat. I’m trying to work out the way I want my student to work out. I read, I learn, I help. I’d give myself a pretty good grade on this aspect of leadership.

Getting things done through the effort of others.

The second part of leadership is getting things done through the effort of others. Leaders have to inspire others to action. Martin Luther King Jr. wouldn’t have been a fraction of the leader he was if he didn’t mobilize thousands of people to action. You can only get so far as a leader with examples, eventually you need to get people behind you to make a difference, to follow. At this aspect of leadership I give myself a C-.

So my mission is to keep leading by example but now to step up as a leaders and do the harder part, inspiring others with a vision and have them help GET THINGS DONE!
